The Dietary team member at Woodcrest Assisted Living is responsible for preparing, serving, and supporting meals that meet residents’ nutritional needs. This role ensures food is prepared safely, served on time, and aligned with physician-ordered diets while maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen environment. It directly impacts resident health, satisfaction, and overall quality of care.

Description

Food Preparation & Service
• Prepare and cook meals according to menus and standardized recipes
• Ensure meals meet dietary restrictions (diabetic, low sodium, texture-modified, etc.)
• Maintain proper portion control and food presentation
• Serve meals in dining areas or deliver trays to residents as needed
• Assist residents with meals when required
Dietary Compliance
• Follow physician-ordered diets and nutrition guidelines
• Verify meal accuracy before serving
• Adapt meals based on resident needs and preferences
• Work closely with nursing and dietary leadership on special diets
Sanitation & Safety
• Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, dining, and prep areas
• Follow all food safety and infection control procedures
• Properly store, label, and rotate food items
• Comply with federal, state, and facility regulations
Kitchen Operations
• Assist with inventory, stocking, and supply management
• Set up and break down dining areas
• Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
• Support team members during meal service and prep
Resident Interaction
• Treat residents with dignity and respect
• Respond to food preferences and concerns
• Contribute to a positive dining experience

Requirements

Education & Experience
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous food service or dietary experience preferred (healthcare setting ideal)
• Experience cooking in large quantities is a plus
Certifications
• Food handler’s permit (or ability to obtain)
Skills & Abilities
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to follow recipes and dietary guidelines
• Strong attention to detail (critical for diet accuracy)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
