Full-time dietary cook responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines, physician orders, and food safety standards. Ensures proper portioning, maintains a clean and organized kitchen, and supports resident satisfaction through quality food service and adherence to facility policies.
Description
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus and standardized recipes
Follow all therapeutic diet requirements (e.g., diabetic, low sodium, mechanical soft, etc.)
Ensure proper portion control and meal presentation
Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation standards (including temperature logs and storage procedures)
Assist with meal service and tray line as needed
Monitor food inventory and notify supervisor of shortages or needs
Properly label, date, and store food items
Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas
Work collaboratively with dietary staff and other departments
Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous cooking experience in a healthcare, institutional, or food service setting preferred
Knowledge of special diets and food safety standards
Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods
Frequent lifting, bending, and reaching (up to 40 lbs)
Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
